Oil-Free Basil Walnut Pesto

  • Food Processor


  • 2 cups of fresh basil
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1 T chia seeds
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 T fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4-1/2 t salt
  • 2 T water


  • Blend all ingredients in a food processor. Serve over pasta, as a base for pizza, or as a salad seasoning!


This pesto may seem a little salty if you use 1/2 t of salt, but once it tossed in the pasta, it will be less salty. You can start with less salt (1/4 t) and add more after you toss it. Also, adding vegan parmesan cheese will make it saltier.
