Dubu Jorim (Korean Tofu)
This Dubu Jorim is NOT fried in oil like the traditional version, so it's a MUCH healthier version.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 1 block extra-firm tofu pressed to remove excess moisture
SAUCE INGREDIENTS:
- 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 green onions chopped finely (both white and green parts)
- 1 tbsp garlic minced finely
- 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean pepper paste)
- 1/4 tsp gochugaru (dried Korean pepper)
- 2 tsp coconut sugar
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil (optional) for flavor
Instructions
- Preheat convection oven/toaster oven or air fryer to 375 degrees F.
- Cut block of tofu into 8-9 equal rectangles just under 1/2" thick each.
- Place the tofu slabs on a pan with nonstick foil or other nonstick surface and into the oven or air fryer for about 15 minutes. They might take less time in an air fryer, so keep your eye on them. You want the final result to be lightly browned on the outside (all sides) and a little firm to the touch.
- While the tofu is cooking, mix all of the sauce ingredients together. Place the sauce ingredients into a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook for about 5-6 minutes until the sauce begins to reduce and thicken up just a bit.
- Add the baked/airfried tofu into the sauce and lower the heat to medium-low. Allow the tofu to absorb some of the sauce while it cooks. After 2-3 minutes, flip pieces to the other side. Do this twice so the sauce gets on all sides. After a total of 5-7 minutes, the tofu should be ready to serve.
- Serve the Dubu Jorim with other delicious Korean side dishes (banchan), like Korean spinach, Pickled Daikon Radish, Korean cucumbers, kimchi, and rice.
